This year we are delighted that the Lent Lunches have returned after a two-year gap! The lunches are on Fridays during Lent and are hosted by different people to raise funds for charity. They take place from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm on Fridays and consist of home-made soups, bread, fruit and maybe some cheese, all served up with lots of friendly chat. The next lunch is on Friday 25th March at St Martin’s Church. All are welcome!
The Lent Lunches raise funds for charity and for the lunch this Friday we are supporting a fund for refugees arriving from Ukraine in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. This fund has been set up by St Albans diocese and money raised will directly go to families who have arrived from Ukraine and require immediate financial support for items such as food and travel. In particular, we are aware that people are arriving at Luton Airport without friends or family to go to and this fund will help provide the support needed. Should it turn out that the money cannot usefully be used locally, it will be sent to the Christian Aid Ukraine Appeal, which is funding lifesaving essentials to refugees arriving on the Ukrainian border with Hungary and other countries.
Please come along and enjoy the lunch while supporting this cause.
