United
Every Sunday morning we hold a communion service at 9:30am. While we currently don’t have our own vicar, this is led each week by visiting priests, assisted by our Lay Minister. We aim for the service on the second Sunday of each month is more accessible to families, with more interaction and a family-focused sermon. All are welcome along!
This page shows an example of the types of service that we ran prior to the pandemic - we will update this page when our new vicar is in post and plans for future services are confirmed.
‘United’ is our All Age Communion Service on the 2nd Sunday of the month at 9.30 a.m with its emphasis on experiencing church as a multi-generational community.
The vision is for the sacredness in the communion service and enthusiasm in song to be married to the joy of children and adults worshipping God in their own unique way.
The service follows a pattern where we choose songs that are favourites amongst adults and are easily learnt by children. These may include “ Shine Jesus Shine, Be Still for the Presence of the Lord, All Things Bright and Beautiful, Amazing Grace and In Christ Alone”.
We have colouring tables in the middle of the church based on The Roots syllabus of creative spiritual learning plus lego, glue and glitter! Families are encouraged to sit near them in our VIP seats at the front and at the back of church. We also have toys for toddlers too set out on our lovely red rug so that you can spend time with God whilst your child plays in a safe and holy space.
The service has a children’s address which is fun and interactive, linked later to the adults talk which follows themes on topics such as, “Prayer, Reading the Bible and How God Guides Us".
Within this popular service our famous Singing Group accompanies us by singing inspirational songs to focus on God, both before prayers and when we take Holy Communion.
Tea, coffee and yummy biscuits are served afterwards which is always a lovely way to end church together. Come along with your family and enjoy uplifting church together!
